TQ History
Tamil communities live around the globe. Immigration to Canada took place in the early 1960s. Now, Canada is the country that has the largest Tamil population. In Canada, most of them settled in and around the cities of Toronto, Ontario, and Quebec. However, there are large populations in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Montreal, Quebec. The Region of Quebec and the City of Montreal have steadily grown the Tamizh people. Most are IT professionals, Industrial workers, and University professors and students.
Tamilagam Quebec is a non-profit, non-partisan community organization focused on enhancing & enriching Tamil Cultural Values among Tamizhnadu, Indian Tamils of Quebec. Tamilagam Quebec is a registered non-profit, started in the year of 2003.
TQ is an Indian Tamil non-profit organization in Quebec. TQ has hosted several cultural events such as the Deepavali celebration, Tamizh New Year Celebration Events, Summer Family Picnic, Summer get-together Potluck, etc. In all the events we provide platforms to showcase the talents of the younger generation of our Tamil Community.
TQ provides a forum for cultural and social interaction of Tamil-speaking people in Montreal Quebec, particularly emphasizing fine arts, literature, language, and performing arts. The organization seeks to promote goodwill, understanding, and appreciation of the culture of Tamil Nadu, India among all interested persons regardless of color, creed, race, religion, sex, or national origin.
TQ promotes local talents as well as renowned artists from around the World. In addition, TQ is the first organization from Tamizhnadu, an Indian origin to conduct classes to teach the Tamil language to children in our community through our Partner, Quebec Tamil Kalvi Nilayam.
